Joint Core Strategy - Proposed Main Modifications

Results of HRA Screening of Proposed Main Modifications

4     Results of HRA Screening of Proposed Main Modifications to JCS

4.1   The HRA Screening for the Proposed Main Modifications to the JCS is presented in Appendix 1.

4.2   As described in Chapter 3, the Proposed Main Modifications were reviewed to determine whether any of them could give rise to likely significant effects on any European site other than the two sites for which likely significant effects were identified by the HRA of the Pre-Submission JCS, namely Rutland Water SPA and Ramsar site and Upper Nene Valley Gravel Pits SPA and Ramsar site. The result of this exercise was that no likely significant effect on any additional European site was identified and the scope of the HRA of the Pre-Submission JCS remained valid.

4.3   The HRA screening then considered each Proposed Main Modification to determine whether it could give rise to likely significant effects other than those already assessed in the HRA of the Pre-Submission JCS, as amended by the HRA Addendum for the Proposed Changes. The result of the HRA Screening was that likely significant effects could not be ruled out for the European sites and types of effect shown in Table 4.1.

4.4   Since the HRA Screening was unable to rule out likely significant effects for the Proposed Main Modifications in respect of the European sites and types of effect listed in Table 4.1, more detailed Appropriate Assessment was carried out for these sites and effects, as set out in Chapter 5.
