The West Northamptonshire Joint Strategic Planning Committee, on 31st January 2011, approved the Joint Core Strategy for a period of Representations.

The Joint Core Strategy deals with the future planning of the West Northamptonshire area, which covers the whole of Daventry District, Northampton Borough and South Northamptonshire. It sets out a vision and a strategy for how our area will develop over the next 15 years.  It covers:-

    • the location of future strategic housing developments.
    • where jobs should be located.
    • how people can move around the area.
    • the location and size of new shopping, leisure and cultural facilities.
    • protection and improvement of the natural and built environment.
    • how to address the needs of the areas diverse communities.
    • how  and when infrastructure (such as roads and schools) will be delivered.

What happens next?

At the end of the publication period the Joint Planning Unit will consider the main issues raised in all valid representations. After all the representations to the Pre-Submission have been taken into account the Joint Core Strategy  will be published as a Submission version and will represent the plan we want to adopt.  There will then be an examination of the Plan by an independent inspector before the plan is adopted.
